Sequel to the cult film - New "Beetlejuice" with Winona Ryder at the Venice Film Festival
36 years fans had to wait - now comes the continuation of the cult-horror comedy "Beetlejuice" to the cinemas. The film by director Tim Burton opens the Venice Film Festival, as the press office announced on Tuesday. The premiere is planned for August 28th.
Hollywood stars Winona Ryder (52) and Michael Keaton (72) are once again involved and are expected at the premiere in Italy. The film festival runs from August 28th to September 7th. The German cinema release is planned for September 12th.
Keaton plays Beetlejuice again with his disheveled, green hair in "Beetlejuice: Beetlejuice". To the horror of Lydia Deetz (Ryder), he returns to her life. In the original film from 1988, Ryder played the young Lydia, who moves into a house with her parents, whose inhabitants had died in a car accident.
The deceased couple, who want to linger in their villa, hired the twisted Beetlejuice back then to scare away the new homeowners. In the sequel, Lydia's teenage daughter (Jenny Ortega) summons the ghost back.
Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, Catherine O’Hara and Justin Theroux also appear in the sequel. "I'm very excited," quoted the festival Burton. "It means a lot to me to experience the world premiere of this film at the Venice Film Festival."
