New abuse lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs

Just a few days ago, hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs was able to avert a rape accusation from his ex-girlfriend Cassie with a settlement. Now another woman is accusing him of sexual abuse, shortly before a special deadline ends.

The rapper and music producer Sean Combs, known under pseudonyms such as Diddy, Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, is once again facing allegations of sexual abuse. After the 54-year-old was sued a week ago by his ex-girlfriend Casandra "Cassie" Ventura for alleged rape and physical abuse, another woman from his past has now filed a lawsuit against him.

According to reports from CNN, the new case is a lawsuit filed by a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal, who accuses him of deliberately drugging and sexually abusing her in January 1991. The woman was a student at Syracuse University in New York at the time and had previously appeared in some of his music videos.

Combs had not only abused her on the evening in question, but had also recorded the events on video and later shown them to other people. "Because she had been drugged," the indictment states, "plaintiff lacked the physical or mental capacity to fight off Combs." After the incident, her life "went into crisis", and shortly afterwards she was "hospitalized for severe depression".

Ex-girlfriend's lawsuit a role model

In the statement of claim, Dickerson-Neal makes direct reference to the previous lawsuit filed by Combs' ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, which was finally settled "amicably" just one day later. It states: "It was the filing of the lawsuit for his abuse of Cassie Ventura on November 16, 2023 that forced her to face his assault again."

According to reports, in her civil lawsuit filed in the state of New York, the plaintiff is seeking damages for psychological and emotional injuries as well as reputational harm from Sean Combs. The amount is not specified. A spokesperson for the prominent rap mogul described the allegations as "fabricated and not credible".

In the US state of New York, there is currently a wave of lawsuits from victims of alleged sexual assault. The background to this is the expiry of a deadline in the "Adult Survivors Act". The law had given adult victims of sexual abuse one year until today, Friday, to file civil lawsuits for acts that are actually already time-barred.

The new sexual abuse allegations against Sean "Diddy" Combs have sparked interest in the entertainment industry, particularly in the realm of rap and music production. This comes as another woman, Joi Dickerson-Neal, has filed a lawsuit against him for allegedly drugging and sexually abusing her in 1991, while she was a student at Syracuse University in New York.

The timing of Dickerson-Neal's lawsuit is significant, as it follows a week after Combs was sued by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura for alleged rape and physical abuse. Dickerson-Neal's lawsuit mentions Ventura's case, stating that it was the filing of her lawsuit that forced her to confront Combs' actions again.
