Hip-hop artist Nelly and R&B vocalist Ashanti have quietly brought a new life into the world. The young one has been around for a few weeks now, and they've publicly disclosed his arrival and unveiled his name.
The melodic duo dropped the joyous news on Instagram, with Ashanti sharing an image and video of herself - devoid of a baby bump. "Four weeks post-delivery. You wouldn't believe what this body can do. I'm beyond proud of my body for delivering my bundle of joy, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby," she wrote in the caption, disclosing that she became a mother a month ago.
Representatives from the couple revealed the information to People magazine: "Ashanti and Nelly welcomed their little one Kareem Kenkaide Haynes on July 18, 2024. The thrilled and smitten parents are completely smitten with KK."
Nelly and Ashanti announced their pregnancy in April. For Ashanti, it's her debut journey into parenthood, and for Nelly, it's his third biological kid. He also serves as the guardian of his sister Jackie Donahue's two children, who unfortunately succumbed to leukemia in 2005.
In June of 2024, it came to light that the pair had secretly exchanged vows on December 27, 2023. Prior to that, Nelly and Ashanti confirmed in September 2023 that they had reunited following a ten-year absence. The musical titans first entered a relationship in 2003, but after a decade, they parted ways in 2013. Currently, they're celebrating their romantic resurrection with a child.
Nelly continues to make waves in the hip-hop genre, releasing new music despite his new responsibilities as a father. Ashanti's love for R&B music hasn't wavered, and she's even incorporated some hip-hop elements into her lyrical style, drawing inspiration from their shared love for the genre.
