- Nearly four million euros: this is the Pagani Utopia Roadster

Pagani produces between 50 and 60 cars each year. A model like the Pagani Utopia, introduced two years ago, is therefore highly limited (learn more here). The company plans to build a total of 99 units of the coupe, making it quite challenging for those with sufficient financial means to acquire a supersport from this small manufacturer.

The Pagani Utopia Roadster is now adding another 130 units to this model range. According to "Auto Bild", the price is 3.7 million euros gross, excluding expensive extras. Pagani itself remains silent about the costs when announcing the car. However, it is clear that the roadster is even more expensive than the coupe.

It's not about record prices for the company, although Pagani seems to be doing well despite its minimal output. The high prices are likely due to the immense effort put into every part of the car. Since its founding, Pagani has emphasized the importance of crafting each component as artistically and flawlessly as possible. This takes time: for example, the steering wheel alone requires 28 hours of machining, turning a 43-kilogram block of lightweight metal into a 1.6-kilogram component that is then polished and refined by hand.

Pagani embraces modern technology but keeps it minimal. There's no additional electric drive, just a V12 engine with two turbochargers. This engine produces 864 horsepower and can be shifted manually if you opt for the almost extinct manual gearshift in the center console. The car does have a display and, for the first time, smart tires.

Not many manufacturers follow this somewhat outdated path. Even Bugatti recently showed a hypercar with a hybrid drive in the Tourbillon, but without turbochargers (learn more here). Porsche has announced the eventual end of pure combustion engines with the traditional 911, but is approaching new drive technologies with this model in a very restrained manner (learn more here).

As for the new Pagani, the open roadster is likely to sound better than the recently introduced coupe. The manufacturer has come up with a 3-in-1 solution for the roof, which defaults to a hardtop with a large glass insert. However, you must decide before the trip whether to take the roof or not, as it cannot be removed and stored in the vehicle later. It's either open or closed for the journey. But: those who drive with the top down are not defenseless against unexpected rain. Behind the seats, the Utopia Roadster has a small bag with a small fabric roof that can be quickly deployed in an emergency.

By the way, apart from two small suitcases in the rear, there is hardly any storage space in the Pagani Utopia Roadster, making it unsuitable for long trips.

The Pagani Utopia Roadster, with its price of 3.7 million euros, features 130 highly sought-after sports cars, making it even more exclusive than the coupe version. Despite Pagani mainly focusing on manual gearshifts and minimal modern technology in their vehicles, other luxury car manufacturers, such as Bugatti and Porsche, are opting for hybrid drives and electric engines.
