Pirelli calendar 2024 - Naomi Campbell is timeless

The tire manufacturer Pirelli presented the anniversary edition of its famous "The Cal" in London on 30 November. For the 50th Pirelli calendar, which is now in its 60th year, the Ghanaian artist Prince Gyasi (28) has photographed personalities under the title "Timeless".

"We are not born 'timeless', we become it," Prince Gyasi is quoted as saying in a press release. According to the artist, the people photographed by him are "like superheroes, but at the same time approachable".

Naomi Campbell becomes a "time stopper"

The 2024 Pirelli calendar will also feature Naomi Campbell (53) as a "time stopper". This is the fifth time Campbell has posed for "The Cal", for which Gyasi wanted to tell a story about what makes a person "timeless" in his eyes.

"When you look at characters like Naomi, she's not of my generation, but she's still an icon of my generation. That can only happen if you stand up for your work and your beliefs," Gyasi continues. He wants to inspire young people in particular: "I hope they understand that they can do anything they want to do if they try hard enough and are determined." The 28-year-old is himself one of the youngest artists ever to photograph for the calendar, which was first published in 1964. Gyasi follows Emma Summerton (2023 calendar) and rock singer Bryan Adams (2022 calendar).

Other of his photographs have titles such as "The Blueprint", "Man of Honor", "Royalty" or "The Future Ahead". In addition to Campbell and himself, he has also photographed British Hollywood star Idris Elba (51), his US colleagues Angela Bassett (65) and Teyana Taylor (32), writer and lyricist Amanda Gorman (25), author Margot Lee Shetterly (54), Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage (43) and His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (73).
