Marius Müller-Westernhagen - Musical memorial for the 75th birthday
On the occasion of his upcoming 75th birthday on December 6, Germany's biggest rock star is not letting himself down: with a new album, Marius Müller-Westernhagen (74) presents himself and his fans with a comprehensive showcase of his musical work to date.
On "Westernhagen 75 (75 Songs / 1974 - 2023)", he presents one song from his 28 albums to date for each year of his life, in chronological order and with at least one track from each album. The journey through time thus extends from his pop debut "Das erste Mal" to his late work "Das eine Leben", which was created in 2022 under coronavirus conditions.
Pearls from his early work are also celebrated
To the delight of his older fans, Marius is by no means leaving orchestral gems from his early work such as "Wir waren noch Kinder", "Marion aus Pinneberg" or "Taximann" under the birthday table. Of course, all the big hits from his later albums, such as "Mit Pfefferminz bin ich dein Prinz", "Mit 18", "Lass uns leben", "Freiheit", "Sexy" and "Willenlos" are also included in this cult compilation.
In addition to the well-known album versions, Westernhagen's showcase also includes some previously unreleased versions of his songs. For example, a rehearsal room version of the scandalous song "Dicke", "Grenzenlos" in a live duet with rapper Sido or a recording of his performance of "Steh auf" at a "Wetten, dass... ?" appearance in 1992.
"75Live" tour in May 2024: "Making a bit of noise again"
"It touches me deeply and fills me with gratitude that my work as an artist up to this point has received such appreciation through this retrospective," says Marius Müller-Westernhagen on the release of this musical birthday cake.
On his "75Live" tour in May 2024, he will once again fire off the fireworks of his greatest hits in front of an audience after a long concert break. "I want to make some noise again," says the artist about the tour announcement. "Let's rock! Damn it, time demands it!"
