New role for Fraser - Movie about D-Day: Brendan Fraser as Dwight D. Eisenhower

Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser will take on the role of the later US President Dwight D. Eisenhower - during his tenure as supreme commander of the allied forces in Europe during World War II. The 55-year-old will play the part in the film "Pressure" (German: Druck), as announced by production companies Studiocanal and Working Title. The film revolves around the events leading up to D-Day.

In the 72 hours prior, everything goes according to plan - except the weather. Great Britain's chief meteorologist James Stagg (Andrew Scott) must create the decisive weather forecast that determines the timing of the operation. The final decision for the operation lies with Commander-in-Chief Eisenhower.

On June 6, 1944, Allied soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy. The D-Day marked the beginning of France and Western Europe's liberation from Nazi rule.

Anthony Maras ("Hotel Mumbai") will direct the film. According to reports, filming is set to begin in September in Great Britain. The screenplay comes from Director Maras and David Haig - according to this, it is based on Haig's namesake theater piece.
