Andre Braugher (1962-2023) is dead: The actor, who is known for his roles in series such as "Homicide" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", has died at the age of 61. Braugher died on Monday after a short illness, reports "The Hollywood Reporter", among others, citing the actor's spokeswoman Jennifer Allen.

Braugher played one of the leading roles in the crime series "Homicide" with Frank Pembleton between 1993 and 1998. He received an Emmy nomination for this in 1996 and won the award in 1998. He played another police officer, Captain Raymond Holt, in the sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" from 2013 to 2021. He was nominated four times for an Emmy for this role. Braugher previously won his second Emmy for his performance in the 2006 miniseries "Thief". From 2008 to 2011, he was celebrated for his performance in the series "Men of a Certain Age".

Unfinished project

According to"The Hollywood Reporter", Andre Braugher was hired in February for the male lead role in the Netflix drama series "The Residence" by Shonda Rhimes (53), in which he was to play alongside Uzo Aduba (42). According to the report, production had already begun, but was halted in the meantime due to the Hollywood double strike by screenwriters and actors.
