Thomas Gottschalk - Moderator gets financially overestimated

Thomas Gottschalk (74) is "relatively relaxed," when it comes to financial matters. He mentioned this in his "Podcast "The Super Noses"" with Mike Krüger (72). The recently engaged moderator noticed through "long experience, which a longer life brings," that "coal does not make one happy." However, he did not reveal exactly which lessons were responsible for this insight.

The topic of money was the reason for the conversation between Thomas Gottschalk and Mike Krüger, as Thomas Gottschalk was preparing to move from Baden-Baden to Bavaria. "The furniture stores in Munich are particularly excited," joked Mike Krüger. "I will be financially overestimated in general," countered Gottschalk. "That's just a fate I've had for a long time."

Therefore, Thomas Gottschalk sued a magazine about his wealth

Thomas Gottschalk doesn't want to disclose publicly how much money the entertainer actually has. Once, Gottschalk even sued a magazine that speculated about his and his brother, entrepreneur Christoph Gottschalk (71), wealth.

The reason for his lawsuit: "There's nothing worse that can be accused of a celebrity in Germany than that they are rich," said Thomas Gottschalk in the podcast. In his former homeland, the USA, that's not the case. No one gets worked up there that Taylor Swift (34) is a billionaire. "But if Gottschalk were a multiple millionaire, then there's a big sigh and grumbling from all those who would also like to be millionaires but unfortunately aren't."

Mike Krüger criticized lists like the one from the magazine "Forbes," which regularly names approximately the wealthiest Germans. The comedian has many friends who appear on such lists. That doesn't sit well with them, as they can no longer go outside without bodyguards.

However, Gottschalk admitted in the podcast that he and Mike Krüger lead "a privileged and prominent life." He only said that as part of comparing himself to other stars in the context of such "Forbes" lists.

Thomas Gottschak's disdain for wealth-focused criticism is not exclusive to Germany. In the podcast, he mentioned facing similar backlash in the United States, where Taylor Swift, a billionaire, does not encounter the same scrutiny.

Germany's Mike Krüger, a close friend of Gottschak, shares a critical view towards wealth-ranking lists, like the one published by Forbes. Despite having many friends who appear on such lists, he expressed their discomfort with the increased security measures necessitated by their newfound public status.

Their discussion in the podcast shed light on Gottschak's belief that being wealthy in Germany carries a unique stigma. He stated that being accused of wealth in Germany is one of the worst things that can be said about a celebrity.

Despite their privileged lives, both Gottschak and Krüger are aware of the scrutiny and criticism that often comes with significant wealth, a lesson they've both learned from their experiences.
