Michael Wendler will not accept fine

Michael Wendler actually got off lightly when he was sentenced to a 15,000 euro fine for aiding and abetting the thwarting of a foreclosure. But the singer apparently sees things differently and declares that he is "completely innocent". That is why he is now appealing.

The verdict has been passed, but it is not yet legally binding: Michael Wendler aided and abetted the thwarting of a foreclosure and must pay a financial penalty for this. The Dinslaken district court therefore sentenced him to a fine of 15,000 euros last week.

It could have been worse for the singer. After all, the public prosecutor's office had even demanded a suspended prison sentence of six months. Wendler, however, does not admit that he made a mistake when he acquired the rights to more than 150 of his songs - just at the moment when his former wife's bankrupt company, which had held the rights until then, was facing foreclosure. "Outrageous, totally crazy, and of course I'm completely innocent in this matter," raged the 51-year-old on X after the verdict.

Accordingly, Wendler, whose real last name is Norberg, is now mobilizing against the judge's decision, according to RTL information. "Mr. Norberg's defence lawyer has filed an appeal against the verdict after being informed by the responsible judge," said a court spokesperson when asked by RTL. "It is therefore to be expected that the Duisburg district court will deal with the matter again soon."

Fear of a criminal record?

If Wendler were to accept the verdict, he would not only be 15,000 euros poorer, he would also have a criminal record. An insider not named by RTL speculates that this could be the reason for the appeal: "It could be that he is possibly planning to apply for an American passport. In this case, a criminal record would of course be an extreme hindrance." Wendler himself did not want to comment on his motives when asked by the broadcaster.

Michael Wendler has been living in the USA with his current wife Laura Müller for several years. Rumors that he is not exactly financially secure are persistent. In recent years, he has made headlines with various scandals, in particular for spreading false allegations and conspiracy stories. He and Laura Müller have been parents to a son since the summer.

Despite the legal bindingness not being confirmed yet, Michael Wendler is appealing the 15,000 euro fine for his involvement in the thwarting of a foreclosure, expressing his complete innocence in the affair. With the appeal, Wendler aims to avoid acquiring a criminal record, as this could potentially impact his plans to apply for an American passport due to financial instability and previous controversies.

In light of his public career marked by scandals, Wendler's desire to avoid a criminal record further highlights his involvement in the music industry, where a tarnished reputation could negatively impact his career in pop music or entertainment opportunities.
