Michael Douglas, a veterans' actor in the Hollywood spotlight, turns 80 on September 25, 2021. It's high time to walk in his late father Kirk's footsteps, who at a ripe old age of 103 continues to flaunt an impressive physique, much like his iconic portrayal of "Spartacus."

Michael Douglas is celebrating his 80th birthday this year on September 25. With his wealth of experiences, he remains active in the industry. In 2023, the 79-year-old starred in the Marvel Sci-Fi flick "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," and this year he took the lead role of Benjamin Franklin in the miniseries "Franklin" on Apple TV+. "I reckon the old kid in me hasn't changed much," Douglas shared in an interview with "Bild" newspaper. "Only my darn exterior seems to have aged, but that's life."

As he matures, Douglas is candid about it, especially with his loved ones. "I don't sneak around my age," he declares straightforwardly. Age-related positives haven't come easily, but "there's no pressure to prove yourself" so the actor elucidates. "You feel good in your own skin and just embrace who you are."

Sweating it Out Four Days a Week

When it comes to health, Douglas heeds the advice of medical professionals, particularly when they utter the dreaded word "cancer." "Cancer threats take the cake," Douglas confides, speaking from experience. In 2010, he was diagnosed with tongue cancer. After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Douglas was cancer-free in 2011.

To stay healthy and fit as he ages, Douglas follows a nutritious diet: "I seldom consume gluten these days, it benefits the memory. I eat minimal beef, primarily for ecological reasons." Additionally, he exercises four days a week: "30 minutes of cardio, 30 minutes of stretching. Then another hour of ab workouts and weightlifting."

Whether anyone will ever match the physique of Kirk Douglas at 103, who embodied the muscular "Spartacus" in the middle of the 20th century, is debatable. However, Michael Douglas' fitness routine appears to be working for him, as evidenced by recent photos. He seems to be on the road to maintaining the form his father once possessed. He likely receives motivation from his long-term wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, whom he has been married to since 2000, and with whom he shares a daughter, Carys.
