In certain pedestrian areas of Germany, individuals exhibit attire reminiscent of mountaineering expeditions. This evokes thoughts of renowned mountain climbing legends.

- Messner derives pleasure from donning outdoor attire in urban settings.

Explorer legend Reinhold Messner finds urban Germans' city center outdoor attire amusing, declaring, "It seems like everyone's preparing for an impending climb of the following day's Everest," he shared with Deutsche Presse-Agentur at his Juval castle in Merano, South Tyrol, at the ripe age of 79. Asked if he felt responsible for possibly fueling this fad, he simply said, "Nah, I'm clean."

Messner is no stranger to functional clothing himself, but he insists it's for utility, not style. The renowned mountaineer is marching towards his 80th birthday next month. Messner was the first to conquer the summits of all 14 eight-thousanders, including Mount Everest, the king of them all. The Italian has a business partnership with a company that specializes in outdoor clothing.

Messner frequently explores downtown Merano, observing the city's residents wearing outdoor gear, reminiscing, "It's as if they're embarking on a daily climb of the local mountains." Despite his partnership with an outdoor clothing company, he maintains, "My choice of attire in downtown areas is primarily driven by practicality, not fashion trends."
