Two intoxicated men are suspected of severely injuring a homeless person in Aschaffenburg with punches and kicks. The two, aged 20 and 21, filmed themselves and were caught in the act by police, as reported by police and the public prosecutor's office.

Passersby called the emergency services on Sunday morning after hearing cries for help. When police arrived in the city center, they reportedly found the two men attacking the 48-year-old man who was lying on the ground. The men were arrested by the officers.

The victim was barely responsive and was taken to a hospital. According to initial investigations, the men, under the influence of alcohol, allegedly beat and kicked the man for at least half an hour. The homeless man suffered severe injuries, including to his head. The men are suspected of using their smartphones to take turns filming the attack.

Police seized the men's smartphones and took blood samples from them. A judge issued a warrant for their detention on Monday due to suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. The background and sequence of events are still being investigated, it was reported.

The case has been handed over to The Office of the Prosecutor for further investigation and potential charges. The two men, currently in detention, face potential charges of aggravated assault due to the severe nature of the injuries inflicted.
