Robert Downey Jr. - Marvel boss ends speculation about Iron Man
Despite his heroic death in "Avengers: Endgame", rumors and hopes continue to swirl around a return of Iron Man and his actor Robert Downey Jr. (58). After all, death is relative in comic book adaptations. But Marvel boss Kevin Feige (50) has now once again put a stop to these hopes. In an interview with the magazine "Variety ", the head of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has categorically ruled out a comeback for the actor.
"We're going to hold on to that moment and not touch it again," said Feige about the film death of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. "We all worked very hard for many years to achieve that goal and we would never want to magically undo it," the Marvel president continued.
On set, however, Robert Downey Jr. aka Tony Stark briefly returned from the dead. According to Kevin Feige, the star had to turn up for reshoots after his tearful last day of filming.
Most recently, "Variety" also fueled speculation about an Iron Man comeback. According to the report, Marvel, which has fallen into crisis, is reportedly planning to reunite the original Avengers in case the next films flop like 'The Marvels' did recently.
Feige had to fight for Downey as Iron Man
Kevin Feige also revealed to "Variety" that he had to fight hard to get Downey as Tony Stark. After all, the actor was previously notorious as a scandalous character. Even after overcoming his drug addiction in the mid-2000s, Downey was not necessarily known as a box office magnet.
But Feige and director Jon Favreau (57) prevailed over the financiers and cast Robert Downey Jr. in "Iron Man". The film formed the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
