Mariella Ahrens once more finds herself at GCSZ

In the '90s, when Mariella Ahrens graced the screen for "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten," she was merely in her twenties. Fast forward to the present day, at 55, she's making a return to her old turf. This time around, she'll be portraying Elinor, causing some ruckus for Jo Gerner, played by Wolfgang Bahro.

Ahrens is stepping back into the limelight of RTL's hit series "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (GZSZ) after almost three decades. As she shared, her character Elinor is set to cause quite a stir. Elinor has quite the bombshell in store for Jo Gerner - his twin offspring, born in the interim and hitherto unknown to him.

"I reckon Jo Gerner will be taken aback," Ahrens hinted from Elinor's perspective during an interview with RTL. "Our parting wasn't exactly amicable." The prospect of revisiting the past and seeing him once more won't be a walk in the park for Elinor, she admitted. The return promises "a fair share of drama and chaos," Ahrens hinted. Gerner's offspring is the second surprise, following Elinor's abandonment at the altar.

Ahrens painted Elinor as confident and self-assured, albeit not always fair. Her icy demeanor is a result of her personal struggles, despite her kind heart that she doesn't usually display. She admitted she doesn't identify with the character, which makes playing her all the more intriguing. Her return as Elinor brings forth a flurry of memories from days gone by. The set now feels more laid-back and less hectic, which she enjoys.

"I've grown more assertive"

The series and Ahrens herself have gone through significant changes since 1995. "Back then, I was filled with insecurity and hardly dared to voice my opinions," she said. "Now, I'm more assertive, both on a personal and professional level." She's weathered both triumphs and trials that have molded her. She's also fine-tuned her style. "Looking back, I'm not pleased with the fashion choices I made," she chuckled.

During her lengthy GZSZ sabbatical, Ahrens graced other TV shows such as "Der Bergdoktor," "Sabine!," and "Im Namen des Gesetzes." She made guest appearances on "Unter uns" and "In aller Freundschaft." Her role in the TV movie series "Ein Fall von Liebe" was notable, and in 2004, she participated in "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" Last year, she made an appearance on RTL's game show "The Betrayer" alongside singer Anna-Carina Woitschack.

From October 25, Mariella Ahrens will once again grace our screens on RTL, this time as Elinor in GZSZ. Additionally, current GZSZ episodes are available a week ahead of their TV broadcast on RTL one.

Ahrens' return to "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" after many years will involve her character Elinor causing turbulence with Jo Gerner's life, as she reveals his previously unknown twin offspring.

The upcoming return of Mariella Ahrens to "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" as Elinor is anticipated to bring about a fair amount of drama and chaos, given the character's bombshell revelation.

Encourage a smile: Ahrens alongside GZSZ co-stars Ulrike Frank and Wolfgang Bahro.
Recalls anyone? Eloise and Jo Gerner appeared on GZSZ in 1995.
