Official German Charts - Mariah Carey back at number one - "Breathless" plummets
Mariah Carey is back at number one in the German charts with "All I Want For Christmas Is You". It is the fifth year in a row that she has achieved this and the 14th number one week overall for the Christmas pop hit.
Meanwhile, the previous week's number one "Atemlos durch die Nacht" by Helene Fischer & Shirin David fell from first place to 31st. In the singles charts this week, festive tracks account for 54 of all 100 positions and populate the entire Top 15, as GfK Entertainment announced on Friday as the investigator of the Official German Charts.
Carey is followed by Wham! ("Last Christmas"), Shakin' Stevens ("Merry Christmas Everyone"), Chris Rea ("Driving Home For Christmas") and Dean Martin ("Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"). In ninth place, for example, is "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee. From Germany, Rolf Zuckowski and his friends ("In der Weihnachtsbäckerei", 20th place), Tokio Hotel ("Your Christmas", new at 52nd place) and Sarah Connor ("The Best Side Of Life" at 53rd place) provide Christmas cheer.
In the album charts, Wincent Weiss reaches the top spot with "Wincents weisse Weihnachten". Music legend Peter Gabriel enters at number two with "I/O". Third place goes to Frei.Wild frontman Philipp Burger with his second solo work "Grenzland". The Rolling Stones ("Hackney Diamonds") fall from two to four. New at number five is Marius Müller-Westernhagen's "Westernhagen 75 (18 Songs: 1974 - 2023)", who turned 75 this week on December 6.

Shirin David, who was previously at the top of the singles charts with Helene Fischer, now finds herself in 20th place with their collaborative track "In der Weihnachtsbäckerei". This shift may have been influenced by the surge of festive songs in the charts, as 54 out of the 100 positions this week are dominated by such tracks.
Despite the drop, Shirin David's music continues to resonate with the German people, as seen in the album charts where her album, "Shirin David", is currently at number 89. The album includes her hit singles, such as "Hier Mit Dir" and "Baden-Baden", showcasing her versatility in music.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" continues to dominate the charts, not just in Germany, but globally. In fact, Carey became the first and only artist to have a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fiftieth time with this holiday classic.
As the year draws to a close, singles like Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and Wham!'s "Last Christmas" are reminders of the enduring power of music, bringing joy and unity to people around the world during the festive season.
Interestingly, some new entries in the singles charts this week come from artists outside of Germany. For instance, American superstar Mariah Carey's new single "Single To Be Lonely", featuring Ty Dolla $ign, enters at number 59, adding diversity to the chart's holiday-themed dominance.
Fans of classic Christmas songs might also be interested to know that the 1963 recording of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" by Gene Autry returns to the charts at number 63, proving that old favorites continue to hold a special place in people's hearts during the holiday season.
