Many organizations in the IT industry are working to hire more staff members.

Based on a recent study, many tech companies are actively trying to recruit more women. The German digital association Bitkom reports that 57% of these companies consciously target women during their hiring process. While most companies, 90%, view increasing the number of women in the IT sector as a positive opportunity, fewer than half are working towards concrete goals.

As part of the survey, it was found that 30% of companies are already collaborating with schools or universities to excite young minds about IT professions. This effort to counter societal preconceptions about the industry is crucial, according to Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst, who believes that girls should be introduced to technology and digitalization from a young age.

Of the businesses surveyed, 67% have already put in place specific initiatives to boost the careers of female employees. These initiatives can include flexible working hours and remote work options. Additionally, 26% of these firms remain in communication with female employees on parental leave, with the aim of maintaining a strong relationship and potentially encouraging their return to the workforce following a hiatus.

Nevertheless, some companies remain skeptical of these measures. 23% believe that these attempts to promote women don't produce any significant results, and an equal amount think that promoting women is often done with the sole purpose of improving their image. Wintergerst cautions that such half-hearted efforts to support women will not only have a negative impact on society but are also detrimental to the companies' bottom line.
