For the second time in his 37-year life, national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has apparently entered into marriage. From now on, the woman at his side will no longer be called Anika Bissel, but can be found on social media under Anika Neuer.
Manuel Neuer and Anika Bissel have been a couple since 2020. Now the handball player from ESV 1927 Regensburg has changed her surname on Instagram and is now called Neuer, just like the national goalkeeper. Of course, there is a very logical explanation for this. As reported by the Bild newspaper, the 23-year-old Bissel and the 14-year-old Neuer got married in secret.
According to the report, the wedding took place on a small scale and only with the closest circle of family and friends. The first rumors of an engagement were probably already circulating at the end of September, and there was even talk of Bissel becoming pregnant. The baby is expected to be born in the spring of next year.
This is Manuel Neuer's second marriage. In 2017, he married his then fiancée Nina in Italy. However, this marriage broke up after a few years. The couple separated at the end of 2019 and divorced a year later.
Most recently, Neuer struggled with a serious lower leg injury. Afterwards, he admitted that his career had been on a knife-edge for a while because of it. "It was a serious injury. I'm glad that I can play soccer again at all," he said recently. However, he will not be returning to the goal for the national team this year.
