Alcohol-related vacations - Mallorca police disperse soccer enthusiasts using blanks.
Mallorca police broke up a wild gathering of Alemannia Aachen soccer fans at Ballermann beach with gunfire. Officers fired pepper spray at the fans on Monday near the Schinkenstraße area to disperse the group, according to a police representative on the island.
Footage shared online shows police officers pursuing Aachen supporters with guns. The Germans were celebrating their team's move to the 3rd league.
The celebration at Bamboleo nightclub had become disorderly, explained the police representative. "The football fans were causing trouble inside the bar. When a bouncer tried to remove them, they physically assaulted him." Even when police showed up, the Germans disobeyed orders to leave. So, authorities took steps to bring back law and order. No arrests were reported.
Each year after the German football season ends, numerous teams and their enthusiasts head to Playa de Palma for celebrations. May and June are often labelled as the most chaotic months at Ballermann due to the rowdy young crowds. Bamboleo made news last year when its bouncers chased German visitors with sticks.

The uncivil behavior of soccer fans from Germany, specifically Alemannia Aachen, has spilled over to Spain, causing disturbances at Platja de Palma. Police intervened to maintain order, employing non-lethal ammunition. This incident happened during the celebration of the team's promotion to the 3rd league.
Despite the negative incidents, booze tourism continues to draw large numbers of soccer fans to Majorca during the end of the German football season. Unfortunately, many of these visitors engage in disruptive behavior, causing chaos in tourist hotspots like Ballermann.
In a similar incident last year, German visitors at a club in Majorca, Bamboleo, were chased with sticks by bouncers due to their unruly behavior. The police in Spain often face challenges controlling the actions of these soccer fans, leading to tensions between tourists and locals.
Spain's regulated approach to addressing these issues might be useful for other nations struggling with soccer-related tourism and crime. The Mallorca authorities showed restraint during the disbandment of the Alemannia Aachen gathering, which was a positive step in maintaining peace.
Tourism contributes significantly to Spain's economy, making it important for both the government and local businesses to work towards a safe and enjoyable experience for tourists, which includes managing the behavior of international soccer fans.
