For four seasons, Lily Collins has been causing a stir in Paris as "Emily in Paris". Now, it's Rome that's stealing the limelight in the series' narrative, drawing the interest of French President Macron.

Global viewers have been glued to their screens for four seasons, following Emily, a Chicagoan, as she navigates life in the French capital. Even French President Emmanuel Macron appears to be an enthusiast of Emily's Parisian escapades, despite the stereotypes and clichés associated with France. However, a considerable portion of the latest season's storylines have been shifted to Rome. Oh la la!

In an interview with U.S. publication "Variety", Macron expressed his desire to contend for the series to remain in France. "We'll put up a fight! And we'll request them to stay in Paris! 'Emily in Paris' in Rome doesn't make sense," declared the French president. According to Macron, the show is a significant boost for France's reputation. "Emily in Paris" is quite beneficial in terms of France's allure, he said.

A scene from the fourth season might have been particularly intriguing to the president. In it, his wife Brigitte makes a brief cameo. Emily happens to chance upon the French First Lady at a restaurant, who reveals that she follows Emily on Instagram. "I was very proud, and she was quite pleased about it. It was just a few minutes, but I believe it was a wonderful moment for her," Macron remarked about his wife's appearance.

However, Macron has ruled out appearing in "Emily in Paris" himself. "I'm not as charming as Brigitte!" he quipped in the interview.

Will "Emily in Paris" be making a permanent move to Rome?

In the second part of the fourth season, Emily visits Rome to seduce a - naturally captivating - client. Since Netflix confirmed the fifth season on September 16, fans have been theorizing if the next season will be entirely set in Italy. After all, Emily has found love and assumed a leading role there.

In the Netflix video that confirmed the news, the message is undeniably clear: "There's no place like Rome," says Lily Collins as Emily. The release date for the fifth season, whether it's in Paris or Rome, has not been disclosed yet.

The global audience has been eagerly streaming the series, with the fourth season seeing a shift to Rome's narrative. This transition has sparked interest, as French President Emmanuel Macron mentioned his hope for the series to continue in Paris.
