Lindner and Lehfeldt celebrate at the public viewing
With budget consultations weighing heavily on him, Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner currently has little to celebrate. The EM comes as a welcome distraction for him. He followed the German team's 2:0 victory against Denmark privately over the weekend with his wife Franca Lehfeldt.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was also in the stadium during the weekend as the German National Team defeated Denmark in the EM quarterfinals. Scholz had been seen on the tribune cheering during the group stage matches against Hungary and Switzerland. What Scholz feels during his cheering is what one might call "excited" for him.
While Chancellor Scholz and his wife Britta enjoyed the rainy spectacle in Dortmund, dry and up close, Finance Minister Lindner was only granted a spot at the public viewing. He attended with his wife Franca Lehfeldt, a journalist and author. The two seemed to have just as much fun as the VIPs in the BVB stadium.
Lindner even posted a selfie of himself and his wife, beaming at the camera. "This could be something!", he wrote under the picture, which was likely taken just before the kickoff or during the ongoing game. Lehfeldt, meanwhile, commented, "Oh, how beautiful!"
"A break from the budget"
Interestingly, the two hadn't missed the opportunity to put on their team jerseys. Both wore neutral black tops. Lindner also posted another snapshot from the public viewing scene, along with a close-up of a jersey with the "Germany" logo.
Perhaps Lindner and his wife will be fortunate enough to attend another live Germany game in a stadium soon. So far, he had only managed to make a trip to the Berlin Olympic Stadium for the match between Austria and the Netherlands. "Welcome break from the budget", he wrote under a photo with his Austrian colleague Magnus Brunner. A football break with his wife would surely be more appealing to him.
Despite his budget concerns, Christian Lindner expressed his excitement for the European Football Championship 2024, often referred to as the EM. Celebrity couple Lindner and Franca Lehfeldt, a journalist and author, enjoyed the German team's victory against Denmark during the public viewing, just like many other football fans.
The upcoming European Football Championship 2024 promises to be a great entertainment event, attracting not just football enthusiasts like Finance Minister Lindner, but also celebrities and entertainment enthusiasts from across Europe.
