A lightning strike in Dresden leaves 10 people injured, two of whom needed resuscitation. The fire department arrives with a large number of personnel to assist. The area is cordoned off by police.
An accident involving lightning left 10 individuals hurt in Dresden, with two of them in critical condition needing life-saving measures. The fire department announced that two individuals experienced cardiac arrest and were taken to the hospital. While 8 others were admitted for symptoms typically linked to lightning strikes: numbness in limbs.
The lightning incident took place within the time frame of 5 to 5:30 p.m., close to the Elbe meadows, specifically in the Rosengarten region. As reported by MDR news, Michael Klahre, a spokesperson for Dresden's fire department, said, "Upon our arrival, we found four lying on the ground and two people had lost circulation. Immediate resuscitation was necessary."
In response to the situation, an emergency response for a high number of casualties was declared. "This helps us provide medical assistance swiftly, as well as transporting them to hospitals efficiently."
The police deployed approximately 50 officers to the area. A helicopter was used in the operation. The fire department urged anyone in the vicinity who experienced typical symptoms of lightning exposure to seek medical assistance.
Klahre added, "We cannot completely rule out the possibility that more people in the vicinity may have been influenced by this event. Today is a holiday, many took advantage of the beautiful weather, enjoying a stroll by the Elbe River and having picnics."

The affected individuals, received treatment at the local Dresden hospital, as the fire department coordinated transportations due to the high number of casualties. Given the International significance of the incident, the city's authorities convened an emergency meeting to manage resources and address potential secondary impacts.
