Lidl and Kaufland's combined sales increased by 9.4%, reaching a total of 125.5 billion euros.

The Lidl and Kaufland supermarket chains recently launched more locations than in years past. However, the total increase was smaller this time, with around 200 new stores added in the 2023-24 fiscal season, totaling approximately 13,900 worldwide. This was announced by the Schwarz Group, the parent company of both chains, in Neckarsulm on a Thursday. In the previous financial year, they had added around 400 new stores. Schwarz had reported similar growth rates for the two years preceding this one.

Lidl's sales figure experienced a growth of 9.4%, with a total of 125.5 billion euros. Kaufland's total sales reached 34.2 billion euros, a 7.8% increase. Their joint online sales were 1.7 billion euros, a 9% drop from the same period the prior year. The Group did not share any details on earnings. Schwarz's fiscal year concludes in late February.

Options for tackling escalating input costs - such as merchandise, raw materials, energy, and transportation expenses - plus interest rate hikes were somewhat mitigated through better cost management. As a result, customers enjoyed stable prices despite rampant inflation. Moving ahead, the representative stated that where possible, any remaining price advantages would be forwarded to customers this year.
