"Let's Dance" was followed by "food attacks"

In the spring, Sophia Thiel participates in the RTL-Show "Let's Dance." However, the physical and mental strain has consequences: The influencer, who suffers from eating disorders, has fallen ill and, as she now reveals - explains her absence from social media.

For the second time in her successful career as an influencer, Sophia Thiel has currently withdrawn from social media. Her last post on Instagram is from May 17th. About a month prior to that, she was eliminated in eighth place from this year's "Let's Dance" season and did not participate in the show's finale. The fact that she has been out of the public eye for nearly two months now has a valid explanation, as she reveals in an interview with "Der Spiegel."

"I became ill after participating in the RTL format and then had an emotional breakdown. I unfortunately had relapses again and fell into a depressive phase," the 29-year-old explains.

The fact that she could suffer such a relapse due to the physical and mental strain of the show, which had already forced her into a multi-year social media break in 2019, was foreseeable in retrospect. At the time, she had not noticed it. "But when I returned to Berlin, it suddenly went wrong for me, and I was confronted with my old demons again."

Back to therapy

Thiel reassures her fans in the interview that her current condition is "nothing like it was in 2019." Although she knows, "you can never completely get rid of an eating disorder," she has learned better ways to deal with depressive phases and has taken immediate action - "I contacted my therapist again and resumed my sessions."

Thiel does not speculate in the interview about how long her break this time will last. She also has no long-term plans for her future career: "I have no plans for the next three, four, or five years, for any area of my life."

Sophia Thiel's participation in the "Let's Dance" RTL show, despite being an influencer in the world of entertainment, led to a challenging period on social networks. The strain of the fitness-heavy program exacerbated her existing struggles with anorexia, causing her to withdraw from social media once again.

In her quest for recovery, Sophia resorted to her therapist, using social networks to reach out and resume her sessions. This time around, she's determined to manage her eating disorder more effectively, drawing strength from her past experiences.

During her time away from the limelight, Sophia hasn't set any specific goals or plans for her future in the sphere of fitness or entertainment on social networks, choosing instead to focus on her present health and well-being.
