After Thomas Gottschalk (74) was divorced from his ex-wife Thea Gottschalk (78) in May, he proposed to his partner Karina Mroß. Gottschalk confirmed this to the "Bild"-newspaper himself. The 74-year-old stated: "Before I accidentally blab it out, or before others make a big deal out of it, I'm confirming it myself: Yes, I have proposed!"

He reportedly made the proposal during a short trip. And despite not everything going according to plan, Gottschalk and Mroß are now engaged. "While I was already practicing my knee-bend - my biggest concern was not being able to get back up - I realized that the engagement ring was missing," the entertainer recalls. He had forgotten the ring in the hotel safe.

Perhaps his long-term show experience helped him handle the situation. "I quickly made a ring out of candy paper, which I then slid over her finger," the former "Wetten, dass..?" moderator remembers. She said "yes" even when I asked her if she would become my wife." The wedding is planned for the coming year.

The separation of Thomas and Thea Gottschalk became public in 2019. Shortly thereafter, the moderator was seen in public for the first time with his new partner Karina. "Thea and I are amicably and legally divorced," he finally confirmed in May 2024 in the daily newspaper - and added jokingly: "We kindly request no wreaths or flower arrangements. We have been separated for five years, so it's really not appropriate to say that we've been pining for each other."
