In the Lower Rhine town of Moers, a 26-year-old individual met their end due to police gunfire, following allegations of attacking several bystanders with a knife, as declared by law enforcement and prosecutors. A special investigation team has been set up by the Criminal Police in Duisburg, they communicated in a joint statement.

The statement revealed that police were dispatched to the region in the late afternoon on Tuesday, following reports of a stranger attacking and threatening numerous passersby. The authorities eventually identified the suspect. "Based on the available information, it is alleged that the subject assaulted the law enforcement officers with two knives in his possession," police and prosecutors announced.
"During the subsequent intervention, police officers discharged their weapons." This Action led to the fatal injury of the 26-year-old. No additional individuals sustained harm. Investigations into the reasons behind the incident are ongoing. Initially, the Duisburg police headquarters did not provide any further details.
The announcement revealed that the police officers used their weapons after the suspect refused to comply, leading to the police shooting. The investigation team is currently examining the circumstances that led to the fatal police shooting.
