Law enforcement authorities intervene in the occupation of Humboldt University.

Activists who support Palestine took over a building at Berlin's Humboldt University on Wednesday. At first, the university allowed them to remain. Now, the police declared that they would force them out if they refused to leave on their own.

The Humboldt University in Berlin wants to get pro-Palestinian activists out of the institute they've been occupying, as reported by the police. "We now have confirmation from Humboldt University that the occupied institute will be evacuated," the police stated on X. "We'll approach everyone there for this reason, escort them out of the building, and check their identities. If someone resists, our emergency services will enforce the measures by force." The police mentioned that they entered the occupied building "to get a better understanding of the situation." They had to break into some rooms since people had blocked them with barriers.

Earlier, the university had announced it would let the pro-Palestinian activists stay in the institute until 6 pm. Around 20 people, who were part of this group, were taken out of the building in the evening. The police stated there were two separate groups that left by choice. They wanted to identify these individuals.

On Wednesday, this group of activists occupied rooms at the Humboldt University; they mentioned that around 100 activists spent the night there. It's still unsure how many people were still in the building by the evening, as per the police.

In a report, the Student Coalition - the group behind this occupation - claimed that Israel is guilty of "genocide" and "continuous mass murders." They demanded "absolutely unconditional support for the Palestinian people." Additionally, they asked the university to "stop all academic and cultural collaboration with Israel." The management of the university should allow their presence and disallow any police intervention.

The Humboldt-Universität, along with Freie Universität (FU) and Technische Universität (TU), are the main universities in Berlin. The Student Coalition Berlin had recently been removed from another building at the Freie Universität by the police. Pro-Palestinian protests, which included camping, have not only been held recently at universities in Berlin.
