British Royal Family - King Charles III and Queen Camilla: Emotional speech and new portrait published

King Charles III and Queen Camilla honor the Day of the Forces: In an Instagram post, the Queen paid tribute to the British Forces and expressed her gratitude towards them: "Our Forces support and strengthen our Nation. They are a source of inspiration, tranquility, and pride – and I greet you all", she said in a message filmed at Clarence House.

New Portrait of the Monarch

A new portrait of the Monarch was also released on this occasion. In the photo, the King is wearing his "ceremonial uniform of the Field Marshal Number 1 with medals, swords, and orders," as explained in the caption of the post. The picture was taken in November of the previous year in the Grand Corridor of Windsor Castle by Hugo Burnand, a popular photographer for the royal family, who also took the official coronation photos.

The King and the Queen traveled to Normandy, France, on June 6 to meet with leading politicians and politicians from around the world to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landing.

In her message, Camilla recalled the "incredible bravery" of the troops who liberated Europe from Hitler's regime. "Eighty years later, I know that the same spirit and those same qualities are still present in our Forces today, as they face a multitude of challenges and dangers in carrying out their duties," she said. "In doing so, they not only protect the British Isles but also defend freedoms far beyond these shores," she added.

Queen Camilla remembers her father

The Queen also referred to her own upbringing in her speech and addressed the soldiers and sailors: "I would also like to thank your families, who keep the home fires burning while you are in action overseas. As a proud daughter of an army officer, I know the effects military life has on families - you are heroes too," so Camilla.

In the Clarence House room where the video was filmed, there is a picture of the Queen's parents at their wedding in 1946. In the photo, Camilla's mother, Rosalind Cubitt, poses with her father, Major Bruce Shand, before St. Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, London. Major Shand served during World War II with the 12th Lancers and was awarded the Military Cross in 1940. For his service in North Africa, he received another award in 1942. In battles in the same region, he later fell into captivity. Camilla's father died in June 2006 at the age of 89.
