Kevin Costner speaks out about his divorce

Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have been divorced since the beginning of the year. In a new interview, the Hollywood star briefly talks about how difficult the separation has been for him. In the show "CBS Mornings," he is asked by Gayle King how it's going for him after the "very public divorce." "That's a devastating moment. It's huge, it hurt," so the 69-year-old actor.
He's moving forward, Costner says. He has "no other choice." "My children look up to me. So I can't wilt like a daisy. I have to keep going, I have to continue being who I am - and pay special attention to who they are."
This special attention he apparently paid during the shoot of his new film series "Horizon: An American Saga," in which besides Costner, his son Hayes also stars. The 15-year-old is one of the three common children of the actor with Baumgartner. Even though Hayes had no experience, Costner believed that his son could play the role. "I was so proud of him," he recalls. The two always went to work together, and it was "a dream."
The first film of the series starts in the US cinemas on June 28, 2023, and part two follows on August 16, 2023. In Germany, the first part is only available from August 22, 2023, and the continuation on November 7, 2023.
Rumors of a new relationship
Costner also has four other children from other relationships. According to US reports from May 2023, Baumgartner, whom he married in 2004, filed for divorce and listed "insurmountable differences" as the reason. A spokesperson for the actor told "TMZ" at the time that Costner regretted the situation and that the circumstances that led to the filing of the divorce were outside his influence. In February 2024, the US celebrity portal finally reported, based on court records, that the divorce was now legally binding.
Costner has apparently not given in yet to the new relationship rumors. In a conversation with US radio legend Howard Stern, he recently denied rumors of an alleged relationship with the singer Jewel: "Jewel and I are friends. We have never gone out together. I don't want these rumors to destroy our friendship, because that's what we have."
Despite the divorce, Kevin Costner continues to prioritize his children's well-being, including his son Hayes, who stars in his new film series "Horizon: An American Saga." In the entertainment world, rumors of a new relationship surfaced, but Costner clarified, affirming his friendship with Jewel without any romantic involvement.
