Katy Perry celebrates musical comeback

For four years, Katy Perry has made music unusual for herself. Now she returns with the feminist anthem "Woman's World." However, her collaboration with a producer accused of sexual misconduct draws criticism from fans.

It's been four years since Katy Perry released her last album, "Smile." Since then, the singer has mainly focused on her permanent show in Las Vegas and her jury duty on "American Idol," the US version of "Germany Seeks the Superstar." Fans are therefore all the more pleased: The 39-year-old is celebrating her musical comeback with the feminist single "Woman's World" on this Thursday. The accompanying music video will be released on Friday night. Previews of it can already be seen on Perry's Instagram page.

The single is not the only thing: As Perry announced on Instagram, her sixth studio album, "143," is expected to be released on September 20. The title refers to a code for "I love you" ("I love you"), which was often used in pager messages in the 1990s. "I have set out to create a bold, excessive, festive Dance-Pop album with the symbolic 143, the numerical expression of love, as a consistent message," Perry wrote in her announcement.

"'143' is packed with powerful and provocative Pop hymns that fans love, and is an album with a lot of heart - and a lot of BPM (beats per minute)," according to a press release from Capitol Records, the record label that Katy Perry is signed to. On her Instagram account, the singer urges her fans to pre-order a signed album through her website.

Criticism of collaboration with Dr. Luke

However, opinions are already divided in the comment sections of Perry's latest Instagram posts regarding her new single. The reason: For "Woman's World," Perry once again worked with the controversial producer Dr. Luke, who is responsible for producing some of Perry's earlier hits like "I Kissed A Girl." Singer Kesha claims that she was drugged and raped by him at a party in 2005. The two settled their nine-year-long, bitter lawsuit last year.

Many of Perry's fans find it incomprehensible that she collaborates with such a contentious producer for a song about female empowerment. "How can this be a 'Woman's World' if one of the producers is a woman abuser? I just don't get it," comments a disappointed fan. "That's disgusting. You're working with a despicable person and are in agreement! Fans deserve better," it says elsewhere. "I'm boycotting this album, it was produced by Dr. Luke," writes another follower.

"Katy Perry's new song is a feminist anthem called 'Woman's World.' It was written by six people, of whom four are men. It is produced by three men, including Dr. Luke, who Kesha has accused of sexual, bodily, and emotional abuse," observes journalist Peter Lloyd on X.

Katy Perry shows herself unusually sexy

Perry's musical comeback was already announced on social media in mid-June - with some daring and for the singer rather atypical sexy Looks. So Perry wore for various photo shoots, for example, a black catsuit with a leather finish and a white net bikini, which showed a lot of underboob, the lower part of her breasts.

Quickly speculations emerged that your new, trained body has something to do with the intake of the diabetes medication Ozempic, which is now also used for weight loss. According to an insider, nobody less than your fiancé, Hollywood-star Orlando Bloom, is behind your physical transformation. This person helped you look great during the promotion of your new album "fantastic" according to a source close to the "Daily Mail". "They eat the same things and train together. She has given up tons of processed food and drinks less", it was said. And further: "She looks incredible because she sticks to the new routine."

Katy Perry's collaboration with Dr. Luke on her new single "Woman's World" has sparked controversy among her fans due to the producer's past allegations of sexual misconduct. Despite the backlash, Perry's upcoming album "143" is expected to be packed with powerful Pop hymns, showcasing her love for the Dance-Pop genre.

The music video for "Woman's World" is set to release on Friday night, and fans are eager to see Katy Perry's latest visuals, especially given her recent daring and sexy looks, inspired by her fiancé Orlando Bloom and her new health regimen using Ozempic.
