At the UK debut of "Lee," held at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on September 3, 2024, Kate Winslet graced the event in London, England.

Kate Winslet expresses discomfort with being labeled as 'courageous'.

In an interview with Time magazine to advertise her latest film "Lee", which revolves around the transformation of a model into a renowned war photographer Lee Miller, the award-winning actress expresses her views on the essence of valor.

Winslet argues that the term "brave" should not be associated with women in the entertainment industry who are content in their own skin or prefer not to wear make-up in public settings.

"That's not real courage," Winslet stated. "I'm not a former postmistress fighting for justice, I'm not in Ukraine. I'm pursuing a role that holds significance for me."

Winslet collaborated on this new project with Ellen Kuras, the director she initially partnered with back in 2004's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".

"Kate is daring and shares Lee Miller's empathy for women's struggles," Kuras shared with the magazine. "Kate delves deeper into the background, much like Lee Miller did."

Winslet admitted that she's predominantly worked with male directors, but she insists it hasn't hindered her performances.

"I've always portrayed women who I hope are genuine women," Winslet revealed.

"Lee" is set to hit US cinemas on September 27.

Winslet mentioned that she doesn't consider it brave to not wear make-up in public as entertainment industry women are often labeled, preferring to focus on the significance of her role in "Lee."

Kuras highlights Winslet's daring approach and empathy, suggesting that her portrayal of Lee Miller delves deeper into the character's background, just like the real Lee Miller had done in her own life.
