While her husband Prince William is on a trip abroad, Princess Kate visited troops from the 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards. The 41-year-old made her way to a barracks in Dereham, around 180 kilometers north-east of London. The wife of the heir to the British throne has been "Colonel of the Queen's 1st Dragoon Guards" since August - a title bestowed by her father-in-law King Charles III.
According to the British newspaper "The Mirror", Kate not only awarded several medals to soldiers during her meeting with members of the 300-year-old regiment. She also promoted a pony called Trooper Longface Emrys Jones, which serves as the unit's mascot, from Lance Corporal to Corporal.

Kate was shown equipment and tactics by members of the regiment. The 41-year-old then took a seat in a combat vehicle in which she was chauffeured around the training ground. Afterwards, she also piloted a drone herself. She clearly seemed to enjoy the varied tasks.
Finally, Kate received three cheers as the new lieutenant colonel from the soldiers of the Dragoon Guards. She then boarded a waiting helicopter and took off.
Meanwhile, Kate's husband William was last seen in Singapore. On Tuesday, he attended the third presentation of the Earthshot Prize Awards, which he initiated for innovative approaches to climate and environmental protection. At the event, the 41-year-old was photographed on a green carpet with actress Cate Blanchett, among others.
Kate did not attend this year's ceremony for the first time. The reason given was that she was staying at home to help her son Prince George prepare for a school exam.
