Justin Timberlake jokes about his arrest
Justin Timberlake joked about his arrest for alleged drunk driving at a concert in Boston, two weeks after the incident in the New York Hamptons. According to "People" magazine, he quipped on stage at TD Garden on Saturday night, "Is there anyone here who drives a car and... no, that was just a joke."
Two weeks ago, US policemen arrested Timberlake in the Hamptons. The singer reportedly drove his BMW in serpentine lines and disregarded a stop sign. The officers also allegedly noticed an alcohol container in his vehicle. Timberlake spent the night in custody.
His joke during his show in Boston caused loud laughter among the 20,000 attendees, according to the "People" report. Afterward, the popstar, who is currently on his "Forget Tomorrow" world tour, asked his audience who had attended multiple shows. "For all those here for the first time, I hope you feel the community and the love," he continued.
Trial on July 26
Justin Timberlake seems to have grown accustomed to the negative headlines about himself, but a court trial regarding the alleged alcohol-related driving offense is still pending. His case is scheduled for July 26. Timberlake is expected to miss the trial in person due to his tour schedule, as there is a concert set for the same day in Krakow, Poland.
Instead, he will be represented by his attorney Edward Burke Jr. Burke has already stated that he is looking forward to "vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these charges." The musician will "have a lot to say at the appropriate time."
Timberlake made light of his first concert after the arrest in Chicago on June 21. "It was a tough week. I know it's sometimes hard to love me, but you all still do and I love you back," he told his fans then.
