Jury in Idaho starts pondering on case of Chad Daybell's triple murder court trial.
Daybell stands accused of involvement in the deaths of his first wife Tammy Daybell and his second wife's children, Tylee Ryan (16) and Joshua "JJ" Vallow (7). He maintains his innocence.
According to authorities, Tylee and JJ disappeared in September 2019, and Tammy Daybell was discovered dead in her Idaho residence on October 19, 2019, just a few weeks prior to Chad's wedding to Lori Vallow Daybell. Initially, it was assumed Tammy passed away in her sleep.
In June 2020, the victims' remains were uncovered on Chad Daybell's Fremont County land.
On Wednesday morning, the jury received their instructions before closing arguments.
During the opening statements, defense attorney John Prior depicted his client as a devoted religious individual unduly influenced by a "beautiful, vivacious woman" capable of manipulating events to her liking.
If found guilty, Daybell may face capital punishment.
Lori Vallow Daybell was convicted in May 2023 by a jury, sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for her children's murder. She was also convicted of a conspiracy charge in relation to Tammy Daybell's death.
Vallow Daybell's legal team has appealed her convictions to the state Supreme Court, questioning her mental competency to stand trial.
