Jury finds Jonathan Majors guilty

Things are getting serious for rising Hollywood star Jonathan Majors: a jury has found the 34-year-old guilty on two of four charges in the domestic violence trial. The actor declared his innocence in court and described himself as the victim of his jealous ex-girlfriend.

US actor Jonathan Majors ("Creed III - Rocky's Legacy") has been found partially guilty in a trial on charges of assault and domestic violence. A jury in New York found the 34-year-old guilty on two of the four charges, CNN reported on Monday (local time). According to US media reports, the actor's sentence will be announced in February.

The trial against Majors began in New York at the end of November. The Marvel star was temporarily taken into custody by the police in March following an incident with his then girlfriend Grace Jabbari. The woman told the police that Majors had assaulted her. The actor denied the allegations.

Argument out of jealousy

On March 25, 2023, according to the allegations, Majors' girlfriend at the time took his cell phone from his hand and saw that he had received a message from another woman. "I wish I was kissing you right now", the message read. Majors grabbed his girlfriend at the time and tried to pry her fingers off the phone. In doing so, he deliberately caused her considerable pain, bruising and swelling.

Majors' lawyer countered that Jabbari had, on the contrary, attacked Majors. She had gone to a club with three men after the incident, while he had ended their two-year relationship in a hotel via text message. He found her unconscious in the morning in the apartment they shared and called the police. Jabbari later told the police that she had been injured by Majors. She was taken to hospital so that her wounds could be treated.

Majors is considered an up-and-coming star in Hollywood. He is one of the main actors in the boxing drama "Creed III" (2023). This year, he also starred as the supervillain Kang in the Marvel film "Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania".
