Former national player in court - Judgment in the trial against Jerome Boateng expected
Process against the former football national player Jérôme Boateng is expected to receive judgment at 11:00 am. The prosecution demands a fine of 1.12 million Euro for the 35-year-old. The defense argues at most for a "moderate fine" due to negligent bodily harm or the dismissal of the proceedings against a bail.
Boateng has denied hitting his former partner in 2018 during a shared Caribbean vacation and throwing a windmill and a cooler at her. He spoke on the first trial day of a "nightmare", his lawyer in his plea of a "fabricated narrative of a woman beater", "mutual body harm", and Boateng pushed his ex-girlfriend away, causing a lip injury.
The lawyer of Boateng's ex-girlfriend, who accuses him of violence, said instead: "It's a real David-versus-Goliath fight." Boateng shows "no sense of injustice".
Lengthy Proceedings
The proceedings against the long-time defender of FC Bayern München, who recently transferred from the Italian club US Salernitana to Linzer ASK in Austria, are dragging on. The Munich Magistrates' Court had already imposed a fine on Boateng in 2021: 60 penalty payments of 30,000 Euro each, totaling 1.8 million Euro.
The Munich Land Court I then sentenced Boateng in October 2022 in the second instance for bodily harm and defamation to a fine of 120 penalty payments of 10,000 Euro - a total of 1.2 million Euro. However, the Bavarian Higher Regional Court quashed the judgment due to persistent legal errors - that's why it was rolled back before the Munich Land Court I. Until a legally binding conviction, the presumption of innocence applies.
