Donald Trump - Judge files proceedings for documents
Donald Trump (78) is expected not to have to answer to charges of illegally taking classified government documents to a court in Florida regarding the Mar-a-Lago case in Florida. Judge Aileen Cannon, who was once appointed by Trump, has announced that the proceedings against the former President of the United States are being dismissed. The decision was based on concerns over the alleged illegal appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith in the case.
Trump's side had requested to dismiss the lawsuit against him, who pled "not guilty" in the case nearly a year ago. In the summer of 2023, Trump was accused of taking boxes containing classified documents from his government service, some of which allegedly contained documents of the US government, illegally and intentionally to his private residence Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
According to US reports, it is currently likely that the prosecution will file an appeal against Cannon's decision.
Classified Documents in the Bathroom
CNN reported at the time, citing the complaint, that the documents contained information about US nuclear weapons and military activities of the United States and other countries. Trump reportedly stored the boxes, for example, in a bathroom and a shower, in his bedroom, and in a ballroom where events took place.
In another case, Trump was recently the first former US President to be criminally convicted in New York. He was found guilty in a trial over the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels (45), a porn star. The sentence is expected to be announced in September.
