Jude Law expresses regret about his actions.

Actor Jude Law has had a successful career that he can be proud of, but there's one thing he wishes he'd done differently. In an interview with "DuJour," the 51-year-old British star admitted that he regrets not embracing his heartthrob status more during his younger days.

Law has been in the industry for 35 years, and in the '90s, he was a major Hollywood heartthrob. He was even named "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2004. However, he remembers this time in his career with mixed feelings. He regrets not letting himself enjoy that part of his identity more.

In the past, Law consciously tried to fight against being seen as just a pretty face. He didn't want to be typecast as a romantic lead and worked hard to prove himself as a serious actor. From a comic perspective, he wishes he had let himself relax and enjoy the attention a little more when he was younger.

Jude Law made a name for himself internationally with the 1997 film "Gattaca," where he played a genetically optimized man who was forced into a wheelchair due to an accident. This character's dream was to go into space, and the film showcased Law's range as an actor. Movies like "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1999) and "Cold Mountain" (2003) helped solidify his status as a leading man.

"Aging gracefully"

Despite his mixed feelings about the beginning of his career, Law is content with how things have played out. He actually finds it fulfilling to portray characters who lack any attractiveness now.

To showcase this, Law recently took on the role of King Henry VIII in the historical drama "Firebrand." With heavy makeup and a thick beard, he aged himself significantly for the part. He even went to the lengths of adjusting to the hygiene practices of the 16th century for the role, saying, "I thought it would be a great effect if I smelled terrible."
