Jon Bon Jovi reportedly encouraged a woman to discontinue her position on a Nashville bridge's edge, according to police statements.
As reported on the Nashville Metro Police Department's X page on Wednesday, the music artist allegedly played a role in convincing the woman to leave the ledge over the Cumberland River and secure her safety.
Nashville Police Chief John Drake stated, "We all have a part to play in ensuring each other's safety."
The Nashville Metro Police Department spokesperson shared with CNN on Wednesday that they would not disclose the woman's name. She was taken to a local hospital for examination and care.
The Nashville Metro Police Department also provided a video of the incident, recorded by an apparent surveillance camera, dated Wednesday. In the video, Bon Jovi can be seen walking across the bridge with his crew when he notices the woman clinging to the ledge, facing the river.
Bon Jovi, who is accompanied by an unidentified individual, appears to converse with the distressed woman and eventually assists in bringing her back over the ledge to safety. Soon after, he can be seen giving her a warm embrace.
CNN reached out to Bon Jovi's representative for a comment on the incident.
On Wednesday, a source close to the situation informed CNN that Bon Jovi was filming a music video on the public bridge when the event unfolded.
Bon Jovi's valuable background and training in addressing crises stem from his JBJ Soul Foundation, which he began in 2006. The foundation, as described on its website, is dedicated to "breaking the cycle of hunger, poverty, and homelessness" via various programs and backing community-based organizations.
