"John Wick" is going to be a series.

Keanu Reeves has slipped into the role of hitman "John Wick" four times, but now the actor is switching sides. In the planned series based on the successful film franchise, the 59-year-old will serve as a producer, but will not play the main character himself.

Last year saw the release of two new productions from the universe of the silent killer John Wick, portrayed by superstar Keanu Reeves. Reeves himself appeared in "John Wick: Chapter 4" one last time against dangerous adversaries from the so-called High Table. Additionally, the prequel series "The Continental" was launched, telling the backstory of the character Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell. Now, the US industry portal "Deadline" reports that another streaming series from the world of "John Wick" is in the works.

The new series project, which has not yet found a streaming home, will be titled "John Wick: Under The High Table" and will directly follow the events of "John Wick: Chapter 4". After John Wick has brought the world of the High Table into a precarious situation, "a series of new characters try to make a name for themselves while some of the old familiar figures remain committed to the order of the old world," according to a plot description of the potential action series published by "Deadline".

Reeves involved in project

Behind the scenes, "The Old Man" co-creator Robert Levine is responsible for the project and will also serve as showrunner alongside "John Wick" director Chad Stahelski. Stahelski, who has been in the director's chair for all four released parts of the film series, will also be an executive producer on "Under The High Table", along with Keanu Reeves.

Reeves is said to be heavily involved in the project, but has not yet planned any acting role. In addition to the new "John Wick" series, which is likely to find a home on a major international streaming service, the spin-off film "John Wick Presents: Ballerina" will also be released next year. "Knives Out" star Ana de Armas will play the lead role, with Reeves set to appear in a brief cameo. The story of "Ballerina" is chronologically set between "John Wick: Chapter 4" and "John Wick: Chapter 3".

The upcoming streaming series, titled "John Wick: Under The High Table," is set to delve into the world created by the "John Wick" film franchise, and Keanu Reeves is set to serve as an executive producer for the project, as reported by "Deadline." Despite his involvement, Reeves has not planned any acting role for the series.
