Reports suggest that she submitted the divorce petition on Tuesday, at a Los Angeles court. According to various sources, including "Variety" and "TMZ.com", she mentioned April 26 as the separation date in the documents.
The timing of the divorce filing isn't purely coincidental. It's been exactly two years since they exchanged vows in a grand ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022. Their union had been officially sanctioned a few weeks earlier, in a private Las Vegas chapel ceremony in July.
For Lopez, it was her fourth matrimonial venture, while for Affleck, it was his second
Initially, it seemed like the conclusion of a fairy-tale romance: Over two decades ago, the 55-year-old Lopez and the three years younger Affleck had been an item, yet it didn't last. Their relationship, fondly known as "Bennifer", ended in January 2004, after a 18-month-long engagement.
Post the breakup, Lopez remarried singer Marc Anthony just six months later. Their union resulted in twins and lasted for seven years. After a series of unsuccessful relationships, she rekindled her relationship with Affleck in 2021. At that time, he had been divorced from actress Jennifer Garner for three years and shared three children with her.
