Film, television and theater - Italian actress Maria Rosaria Omaggio dies
The Italian actress Maria Rosaria Omaggio is dead. The Neapolitan native died on Monday after a longer illness at the age of 67 in her residence in Rome, as the family announced. Omaggio appeared in more than 40 film and television productions, including in Woody Allen's Rom film "To Rome With Love". In her hometown, she was also among the well-known theater actors.
Her most famous international film is "Walesa. Man of Hope" by Andrzej Wajda about the Polish labor leader Lech Walesa from the year 2013. In this film, Omaggio embodied the Italian star journalist Oriana Fallaci (1929-2006). In the Venice Film Festival, she was awarded a prize for her performance.
Omaggio was also an ambassador for UNICEF. She herself had no children.
