"The Wasp" - It gets personal for Eddie in season 3

Eddie "The Wasp" Frotzke is back. The third season of the comedy series about the moustachioed darting underdog starts on Sky on December 2, 2023. The first two seasons were well received by critics for their idiosyncratic humor and credible portrayal of Berlin's dingy corners.

"The Wasp": The story of season three

In the third season, Eddie's family past catches up with him. His older brother Ecki turns up. The siblings are united by their passion for darts, but otherwise they have a heartfelt dislike for each other. Unlike Eddie, who at least has a successful past, Ecki has never achieved anything at the disc. Now he is trying to double-cross his younger brother. On the way to a tournament, he sabotages Eddie's food and has his car towed away.

But his brother's surprise appearance is not the only shock for Eddie in season three. 14-year-old Maxie claims to be his daughter. The emo teenager forces her pretend father to train her and drive her to a competition 700 kilometers away.

Of course, Eddie's wife Manu doesn't like this at all. She throws the allegedly unfaithful dart thrower out of the apartment they share. He is not allowed to return until he has clarified whether he is really Maxie's father or not. Manu also celebrates further sporting successes. "The Rattlesnake" competes in the Darts Champions League in London.

New colleagues for Florian Lukas and Lisa Wagner

In season 3, of course, Florian Lukas (50) once again plays the likeable, brash title character. At his side, Lisa Wagner (44, "Kommissarin Heller") will once again play his wife Manu, alias "The Rattlesnake". Lisa Wagner won the German Acting Award in the "Comedic Role" category for the first season.

In the first two seasons, the series was able to attract top-class actors for the supporting roles, such as Ulrich Noethen (64), Meret Becker (54) and Peter Lohmeyer (61). In the new round, there is also a prominent newcomer for the leading role of Ecki Frotzke, who also brings plenty of comedic experience to the table: Matthias Mattschke (55) was not only an inspector in Magdeburg's "Polizeiruf 110", but was also part of the ensemble of the comedy series "Sketch History".

Eddie's presumed daughter Maxie is played by Sophie Paasch, a relatively unknown quantity. Born in 2006, the young actress has only had small parts in series such as "Letzte Spur Berlin" and "Die Kanzlei". Also taking part in season three are Oscar Ortega Sánchez (61), Bernd Tauber (73) and Milena Dreißig (30), who is known as the girlfriend of "Stromberg".

New director, proven writer for the new season

There is also a mixture of continuity and new blood behind the scenes in season three. As with the first two seasons, the scripts are written by series creator Jan Berger (53).

This time, Gregor Schnitzler (59), who directed the feature films "The Cloud" and "The School of Magical Animals" among others, is directing all episodes. The first season was directed by Hermine Huntgeburth (66, "Lindenberg! Mach Dein Ding"), the second by Tobi Baumann (49, "Der WiXXer").

Season 3 of "Die Wespe" starts on December 2 at 8:15 pm on Sky One. The six new episodes, each 25 minutes long, will be shown in double episodes on Sundays. All six episodes will be available to watch on Sky Q and the in-house streaming service Wow from December 2.
