Israel announces finding of remains of three captives

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli military forces have recovered the remains of three individuals allegedly kidnapped by Hamas. Reportedly, one of these victims is the partner of Shani Louk, another person who was also killed by the said terrorist organization.

Israel's army spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, disclosed the discovery of these individuals in the Gaza Strip. He mentioned that all three had been murdered by Hamas and other Palestinian groups on October 7th, 2020, during their assault on southern Israel. The terrorists were said to have taken the bodies to the Gaza Strip.

Two of the victims were 42 and 30 years old and had attended the Supernova festival, where the attackers had massacred hundreds of attendees. The Forum of Hostage Families stated that one of them, a Mexican-French national, was also Shani Louk's partner, a German-Israeli citizen who was discovered dead in the Gaza Strip a week ago. Louk's death had also occurred on October 7th, 2020, during the attack.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed deep sorrow on Twitter regarding the demise of one of the French hostages in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized France's unwavering dedication to freeing all captives. The third victim was a 59-year-old Israeli-Brazilian man from the city of Sderot, Hagari added. The remains were discovered through a collaborative operation conducted by special units of the army and the domestic intelligence service – Shin Bet – in the refugee settlement of Jabalia.

The bodies of Shani Louk and three additional victims were located there a week earlier, and the attack by Palestinian terrorists and the kidnapping of over 250 hostages were believed to be the catalyst for the Israel-Gaza conflict. Israel, in turn, responded with relentless air strikes and ground operations to neutralize Hamas and their allies. Amidst the high numbers of civilian deaths and the critical situation in the Gaza Strip, Israel has encountered considerable international reproach.
