Iran's President Raisi has passed away.
A helicopter carrying Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi crashed in a remote, mountainous area of Azerbaijan, prompting a long search-and-rescue operation. Unfortunately, both Raisi and Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian did not survive the incident.
The disappearance of the helicopter, which had been carrying Raisi and Amirabdollahian, was confirmed on Sunday as they returned from a mission in Azerbaijan. The crash occurred in the northeastern province of East Azerbaijan.
It took several hours for rescue teams to locate the accident site. The remains of both the president and the foreign minister were eventually found.
