Crime - Investigators: New status of attempted Schumacher blackmail
In the case of the attempted extortion of the family of former Formula-1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, there is a new investigative status. The prosecutor's office in Wuppertal will inform about it in the morning and has invited media representatives.
Two alleged extorters had possessed private photos of the Schumacher family, as the prosecutor's office had previously stated. It is still unclear where they obtained the photos. They are said to have demanded a payment in millions - otherwise, they would make the data public in the Darknet. As evidence, they had sent some files to the family.
The two suspects, a 53-year-old man and his 30-year-old son, were arrested on June 19th at a supermarket parking lot in the Hessian Groß-Gerau. Both are in custody.
