Lower Saxony's authorities... - Investigation of soccer coach over secret recordings from women's shower area.

A man from Walsrode, Lower Saxony, who is 37 years old is under investigation for secretly filming women in the showers of a sports club. The Heidekreis Police have confirmed this to stern after an inquiry. The news had previously been reported by the "Walsroder Zeitung" and NDR.

A spokesperson for the police said, "We can confirm that we are conducting an investigation against a 37-year-old man from Walsrode for violating personal privacy and personal rights through image recordings (sec. 201a StGB)".

During the searches, evidence was gathered. "The more than 40 victims, most of whom are players from the club mentioned, were contacted and summoned by the police in the last week," the spokesperson continued.

The Club in Lower Saxony Reacts

On the homepage of the affected club, there's a statement about the allegations. It says, "SV Boehme distances itself from the alleged actions of a former functionary of the club and condemns the actions sharply". It's a former coach who currently has a "house and access ban for our sports facilities". The club management also mentions names of people against whom the allegations do not apply - most likely to dispel rumors and protect the innocent. The chairman of SV Boehme, Patrick Prueshoff, told NDR that the actions are unheard of in the club's history and quite shocking.

If the allegations are true, the accused could face a fine or a prison sentence of up to two years. The police have set up an investigation team in Walsrode since there are many victims.
