The depressed state of Lower Saxony - Investigation into soccer coach over leaked private videos from women's shower

A 37-year-old man from Walsrode, Germany, has been accused of secretly filming the women's shower area at a local sports club. The Heidekreis Police have launched an investigation following reports from the "Walsroder Zeitung" and NDR.

According to a statement from the police, the man is being investigated for violating personal privacy and personal rights through image recordings (as per section 201a of the German Criminal Code). During the searches, evidence was collected.

The police spokesperson confirmed that over 40 victims, most of them being players of the club, were contacted and summoned for questioning within the past week.

Club's statement

The website of the affected club, SV Boehme, issued a statement about the accusations: "We, SV Boehme, are absolutely against any such actions by a former member of the club. We strongly condemn such behavior." This statement is in reference to a former coach, who has since been banned from the club's facilities.

The club's management also felt it necessary to mention names of people who are not involved in the allegations, presumably to dispel rumors and protect the innocent. Patrick Prueshoff, the chairman of SV Boehme, told NDR that this incident is the worst in the club's history, in a very negative light.

If the accusations are proven true, the man could face a fine or a jail sentence of up to two years. The police have set up a special investigation team, headquartered in Walsrode, due to the large number of victims involved.
