In Syria, an American woman repatriated is charged with training alongside ISIS.

A 20-something lady named Halima Salman is being charged with learning to manage an AK-47 rifle at the hands of a terrorist faction during her time in Syria.

According to a US official, Halima was among 11 American citizens, coming from the same family, who were brought back to their country after residing in the northeast region of Syria. As related by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, this re-representation was labelled as the "greatest solitary return" of Americans from that area.

Prior to this, an official from the State Department informed CNN that none of the said family members were former ISIS members. CNN has reached out to the State Department for comments about the accusations directed towards Salman.

As of now, no lawyer has been identified for Salman.

Fixated on the year 2016 or 2017, Salman was supposedly swept up by ISIS and entered a zone run by them in Syria. Turning 18, it is mentioned in the trial papers that Salman underwent her training by the ISIS. She was later apprehended by, or submitted to, "forces against ISIS" in Baghouz, Syria.

Two years later in 2023, Salman was interrogated by FBI workers in a confinement center in Syria. She supposedly disclosed to agents that she got wed to an ISIS fighter but verified she was not associated in any ISIS activities.

However, the FBI claims information from a phone invaded in the Middle Euphrates River Valley in Syria - a device they say belonged to Salman's spouse. The images had photos of a report suggesting Salman completed her military training effectively and had possession of an AK-47. This paperwork was allegedly imprinted with a signature, indicating it was released by an ISIS military team designed solely for female members of ISIS.

The Kansas woman who ran the all-female ISIS squadron that Salman allegedly underwent training with was sentenced in 2022 to 20 years of detainment. The women in the battalion, some as young as 10 years old, were instructed in the use of explosives and firearms.

The Ford Explorer had photos of Salman putting on display in front of an ISIS flag and roaming about with an atomic rifle, the investigators claim.

The US has endeavoured to bring home citizens from the once-possession of ISIS territory. The US administration also called for other countries to deliver their own citizens back.

There are roughly 100,000 individuals, documented as the majority being children, staying in two vast camps, Al-Hol and Roj, in northeast Syria, according to Blinken.
