In Holland, a fire involving a bicycle battery left six individuals hurt.

An electric bicycle's fiery battery has ignited a house fire in the Netherlands, leaving six people injured. Omroep West, a local radio station, reports that the Oegstgeest fire station in South Holland received a call regarding the incident on Monday evening. The suspected cause - the battery likely caught fire while being charged.

Four adults and two children were rushed to the hospital to treat their inhalation of harmful smoke. Initially, the fire department gave them oxygen masks on the scene to help them breathe. Thankfully, the damage to the apartment was not significant.

Unfortunately, the emergency operator was unable to convince the residents to evacuate their home beforehand. They even attempted to put out the flames with a garden hose, resulting in them inhaling the dangerous smoke.

A fire department spokesperson commented, "Batteries are not easy to extinguish. If you try, make sure to pull the plug first." When battling a fire involving batteries and accumulators, the release of hazardous smoke can seriously impact lung health. As a precaution, "we fight only fully equipped with respiratory protection," added the spokesperson.
